Brenda Faye Cadle Blankenship, 73, a resident of Elkins and more recently Morgantown, passed from this life Monday, May 6, 2024, at the home of her daughter.
Brenda was born Tuesday, June 20, 1950, in Richwood, a daughter of the late Orvie Cadle and Opal Dodrill Cadle.
She was married twice.
In 1982, she married Miles E. "Smiley" Workman Sr., who preceded her in death.
On Sept. 8, 1984, in Elkins, she married Daryl Ray Blankenship, who preceded her in death in 2015. They celebrated 31 years of marriage.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Julie Workman Martinez-Aguilar and husband, Luis, of Morgantown, Miles E. Workman and wife, India, of Parrish, Florida, Sabrina Blankenship and husband, Eric Ward, of Elkins; four grandchildren, Luis Martinez-Aguilar II, Coal Workman, Ruby Workman and Lexus Workman, whom she raised as a daughter; five siblings, Betty Ray, Debbie Cadle, Charles Cadle and wife, Debbie, Don Cadle and wife, Rosalie, and Roy Cadle and wife, Mary.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were three brothers, Herbie, Hubert and Paul Cadle, one sister, Sybil "Marlene" Bartley; and one infant sister, Doris Cadle.
Brenda was a 1968 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School. She worked in various positions prior to becoming disabled, including restaurant and bakery work, housekeeping, ambulance driving and coal mining. She worked for over 10 years as a homemaker with Randolph County Senior Center. Throughout her life, Brenda enjoyed dancing, quilting, sewing, reading, cooking, baking, canning, gardening, shopping at thrift stores and yard sales, coloring, completing word search puzzles, watching TV and movies and spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. She was a Baptist by faith.
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Monday, May 13, 2024, from 11 a.m. until noon, the funeral hour.
Elder B.J. Manning will officiate.
The family's request for cremation will then be honored.
