Chad Whitney Smith

Chad Whitney Smith, 51, a resident of Hambleton, West Virginia, departed this life early Sunday morning, May 26, 2024, at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, West Virginia, surrounded by his loving family. Death was unexpected.

He was born into a loving family on Good Friday, April 20, 1973, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia, a son of the late Wayne Clark Smith and Mary Jane Watring Smith, who survives at Leadmine, West Virginia.

On Nov. 21, 1993, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Parsons, West Virginia, he was married to the former Sharon "Penny" Streets, who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Carissa Adair Fecsko and husband, Zack, of Morgantown, Trent Alexander Smith of Tallahassee, Florida, and Avery Blake Smith of Hambleton; one brother, Jason Lee Smith and wife, Lisa, of Leadmine; two grandchildren, who were the loves of his life, Asa Fecsko and Zailee Fecsko; two brothers-in-law, Neal Streets and wife, Cindy, and Allen Streets and wife, Beth; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 1991, where he excelled at mathematics and building construction. Chad was owner and operator of the Whitney Construction Co, he was a perfectionist and very meticulous at everything he did. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, the Hambleton City Council and the Rosendorf Pentecostal Church of God.

He was always there for Adair's singing shows, motorcycle racing with Trent, and dance recitals and horse shows for Avery, and hunting with his wife. He enjoyed shooting at the range, goose hunting and hunting trips. His family has many good memories of their times traveling throughout the United States together. Chad was a true family man, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, May 31, 2024, at noon.

Pastor Adam Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at the McKneeley Cemetery at Hambleton, West Virginia.

The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Chad Whitney Smith.
