Delbert Lee McCartney, 92, of Crawford, West Virginia, died Monday, May 6, 2024, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
He was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Cherry Fork, West Virginia, a son of the late William G. and Dorothy Forinash McCartney.
On June 1, 1955, he married Margaret Jane McKisic, who preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2016.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Lee McCartney; four brothers, Cecil, Russel, Kermit and Weese McCartney; and two sisters, Opal Johns and Murl Walton.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Joyce McCartney of Crawford, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McCartney served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Methodist by faith. He worked in construction, loved woodworking and was a wood turner. Many of his creations were sold at the Tamarack, Jackson's Mill, and other various craft fairs.
Friends will be received Thursday, May 9, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with Rev. Michael W. Wamsley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Heaston Ridge Church Cemetery in Heaston Ridge, West Virginia.
