Edward Junior ‘June’ George

Edward Junior "June" George, 97, a resident of Cassity, passed from this life Friday, May 17, 2024, at Mountain Memories in Elkins.

June was born Thursday, March 10, 1927, on McGee Run in Valley Bend, a son the late Edward George and Mabel McGee George.

On Sept. 2, 1950, he married his lifelong love, Delia "Jeanette" Shreve George, who preceded him in death on Sept. 8, 2013. They had celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Left to cherish June's memory is one daughter, Evelyn George of Talbott Community; two sons, William "Bill" George and wife, Susan, of Kingsville, and Joseph "Joe" George and wife, Lisa, of Cassity; five grandchildren, Lisa Conniff and husband, John, of Talbott Community, Seth George and wife, Leah, Sabrina George and husband, Justin, and Devin and Dustin George; seven great-grandchildren, Garrett and Sydney Conniff, Alexis, Berkley, Eden, Brooklynn and Gavin George; two great-great-grandchildren, Merikh and Hayley; three siblings, Everett and Donald George and Wanda "Jake" Watson; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife was one infant son, Raymond Earl; and five siblings, Ronald, Tom, Margaret, Phillis and Harriett "Tippy."

June attended the schools of Randolph County and then proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He had been stationed in Germany, Belgium, and France.

He had been employed as a coal miner with the Pittston Coal Company and worked for several local mines. June was an avid turkey hunter and enjoyed vegetable gardening. He was a lifelong member of the Fincham Chapel Church in Adolph and a Methodist by faith.

Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 10 a.m.

Rev. Randy Long will officiate and interment will follow at Fincham Chapel Cemetery in Adolph.

The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Edward Junior George.
