Joyce Jean Channell Tyre, 79, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Saturday, May 25, 2024, at home with family by her side and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Joyce was born Sunday, April 8, 1945, on Shavers Run in Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Bert Channell and Edna Shreve Channell.
Left to cherish his memory is her only child, Brian K. Tyre and wife, Sarah; three grandchildren, Sean Tyre and wife, Lyndsey, Hayley Kerns and husband, Cody, Lainey Tyre and Edward Morgan; one great-grandson, CJ Tyre; cousins, Linda Weese and husband, Pat, Humbolt Pritt and wife, Mary, Andy Wamsley; and friend, Roland Swick.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was one cousin, Janice Wamsley.
Joyce was a 1962 of Beverly High School; having graduated a year early. She had been employed at G.C. Murphy, Super 8 Motel, American Greetings and for 22 years and five months, she was employed at Walmart.
Joyce enjoyed travelling and going to the Randolph County Senior Center. She loved to play Bingo! Joyce was a Methodist by faith and joined the Beverly United Methodist Church at the age of six.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mountain Hospice for the compassionate care given by their employees.
Joyce's request for cremation will be honored.
