Marcia Lea Hunt Evans, 57, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia, departed this life in the early morning hours, Sunday, May 19, 2024, in her home surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on Wednesday, May 25, 1966, in upstate New York, a daughter of the late Donald Thomas Hunt and Nancy Moot Hunt.
On April 2, 1988, she was married to the love of her life, high school sweetheart, the late Denzil Earl Evans Jr.
She is survived by one son, Thomas Earl Evans and wife, Zoe, of Thomas, West Virginia; two brothers, James Douglas Hunt of St. George, West Virginia, and Richard David Hunt and wife, Amy, of Hambleton, West Virginia; mother-in-law, Wanda Crossland and husband, Richard, of Thomas, West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are four uncles, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her father-in-law, Denzil Earl Evans Sr.; sister- in-law, Laura Hunt; and brother-in-law, Richard Crossland.
Her family moved from New York to Parsons when she was a young child. She attended Hamrick Elementary School of which she often shared fond memories. She was a graduate of TCHS with the class of 1984. After graduation, she moved to Florida and began her career as a police dispatcher. She returned to Parsons in 1988 and began serving as a dispatcher for the West Virginia State Police, eventually becoming Supervising Dispatcher until retiring after 35 years of service.
Marcia was a beautiful soul, who warmed the hearts of all who knew her. She adored her son, Thomas, and his wife, Zoe, and devoted her life to ensuring they knew how much they were loved. She was an exceptional artist with many talents, the greatest being her love and compassion for others.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Parsons, and extremely devoted to her faith. She was a beacon of light to many. She served several positions within the church including VBS Director, Director of Children's Ministry, Women's Small Group Ministry Leader, and assisted in the Hinkle House Food Pantry. She served on the Board as an active member of Our House Ministries of which she was instrumental in assisting to establish and sustain from its inception. She was devoted to serving others selflessly. Her life was a true reflection of the love of Christ.
The family will receive friends at the Hostetler Funeral Home in Parsons, West Virginia, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
On Thursday, May 23, 2024, Marcia will be moved to the First United Methodist Church of Parsons for the funeral service, which will be held at 10 a.m.
Pastor S. Jeff Anderson and Rev. Julie Davis will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Holly Meadows.
