Mrs. Ollie Ruth Osborne, 92, a resident of the Tygart Valley Health and Rehabilitation Facility, departed this life early Sunday morning May 19, 2024, in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born June 29, 1931, at Craig, Greenbrier County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Charles Taylor and Martha Dorcus Buckland Osborne.
On Sept. 25, 1948, in Hines, Greenbrier County she was united in marriage to George Garland Osborne, who preceded her in death in 2008.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Shelby J. Osborne and husband, Barry Row, of Belington; four grandchildren, Bruce Allen Martin Jr., Dwayne Garland Martin, Jeanette Marie Schnickel and Brandon Osborne Highbaugh; four great-grandchildren, Douglas Krauth, Dylan Martin, Hayden Brown and Levi Martin; and a son-in-law, Bruce Allen Martin Sr. of Ronceverte, West Virginia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Thomas Osborne; a daughter, Barbara Ruth Martin; two infant sons; two sisters, Eva Mae Osborne and Rena Pearl Osborne; five brothers, Woodrow Osborne, Thomas Osborne, Infant Joseph Osborne, Marvin Osborne and Elmer Osborne; and three half-brothers, Stuart Osborne, Lloyd Osborne and Burley Osborne.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Ruth attended the schools of Greenbrier County and was a homemaker. She formerly resided in Craig, West Virginia, Kessler, West Virginia, and Walterboro, South Carolina. She attended the Little Sewell Baptist Church in Craig, West Virginia, and Welch Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro, South Carolina.
A memorial Service will be conducted from the Wallace and Wallace Inc. Chapel in Rainelle, West Virginia, on Sunday July 14, 2024, at 2 p.m., with her son-in-law, Barry Row, officiating.
Interment of her cremains will follow in the Wallace Cemetery.
