Robert K. ‘Bob’ Hinkle
HINKLE
Robert K. “Bob” Hinkle, 95, a resident of Crystal Springs, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
He was born Aug.1, 1928, at Elkins, a son of the late Snoden S. and Margaret Dumire Hinkle.
He was twice married, first on Sept. 5, 1948, in Oakland, Maryland, he was married to Elva M. Holenchick, who preceded him in death March 28, 2002.
On Dec. 14, 2002, in Elkins, he was married to Sara F. Loudin, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Connie J. Kemrite and husband, Ronald, of Elkins, and Lynn A. Ritter and husband, Jim, of Elkins; one son, John R. Hinkle of Honolulu, Hawaii; and two grandsons, Corey J. Ritter and girlfriend, Jazmin Gillum, of Elkins and Alex R. Ritter and fiance, Anju Nair, of Columbus, Ohio, and soon to be Morgantown, West Virginia.
Also surviving is one step-daughter, JoEllen Howell of Elkins.
Bob was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having also been preceded in death by five sisters, Genevieve Faircloth, Edyth Furman, Alice Weese, Elizabeth Stalnaker and Eileen Arbogast; and one brother, Kenneth Hinkle.
Bob was a graduate of Elkins High School and had worked as a salesman for General Tire and Battery Company. He was then employed by the Randolph County School System as a custodian and later a maintenance employee where he worked until his retirement. Many years ago, he was a member of the Elkins Band Auxiliary.
Bob enjoyed wood working and his creations were beautiful. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Elkins and the Methodist Men of the church. You would always find him helping with the annual Pancake Feed fundraiser when he was able.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until noon, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, from the church, with Rev. Brian L. Seders officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church General Fund, 315 Kerens Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Bob.
