Virgie O. Williams

WILLIAMS

Virgie O. Williams, 94, a resident of Elkins and a longtime resident of Philippi, went to be with the Lord on Sunday May 12, 2024.

Virgie was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Wadestown, West Virginia, daughter of the late James F. and Elizabeth (Reed) Kennedy.

Virgie was united in marriage on June 28, 1947, to Edwin Williams, who preceded her in death March 24, 2022.

Virgie was an avid golfer, she enjoyed bowling, playing volleyball and tending to her garden. She used her love for music as a ministry, playing piano and singing for others. Virgie volunteered with hospice for many years. She filled her hunger for God's word and shared it by teaching Bible Studies.

She was a long-time member and elder of Silent Grove Church. Virgie had a great love for her family and cherished time spent with them.

Surviving are children, Edina McMasters and husband, Randy, of Brentwood, Tennessee, Gregory Williams and wife, Debbie, of Philippi and Danita Menear of Philippi; nine grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and brother, Donald Kennedy, of Weirton, West Virginia.

Virgie was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; parents James and Elizabeth Kennedy; brothers, Ralph and George Kennedy; and sisters, Iona Martin and Mary Gail Gray

Virgie is reunited with her husband in the presence of the Lord she worshipped and served.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday May 17, from noon to 2 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
