Amenthia Triplett Currence, 84, a former resident of the Tygart Valley Apartments of Elkins, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center in Elkins.
She was born Aug. 31, 1939, at Glady, West Virginia, daughter of the late Sam and Pearl Bowers Arbogast.
Amenthia was adopted and raised by loving parents, the late Ira and Bernice Bowers Triplett.
On March 4, 1960, Amenthia was married to Ralph Max Currence who preceded her in death March 4, 2002. They had 42 wonderful years together.
She is survived by a wonderful son, Ralph W. Currence and wife, Terry, of Elkins; and wonderful grandchildren, Zachary W. Currence, Taylor Currence, Dale Pitzer and Brittney Pitzer; and great-grandchildren who she adored, Skylar, Garrett and Peyton.
Also surviving are one sister, Lois Ann Hoover; three brothers, Dale Arbogast and wife, Dottie, of Elkins, Robert Arbogast and wife, Judy, of Ohio, and David Arbogast of Texas; several nieces and nephews which included three special nieces, Debbie Motil, Mickey Walter and Andrea Alden; and special friends from the Tygart Valley Apartments, Betty Fenstermacher, Steve Pritt and Wanna Bradley.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Gregory Max Currence; one great-grandson, Waylon; sisters, Juliet Virginia Price, Maxine Wilcox, Mary Luzarder and Betty Webley; brothers, Allen Arbogast, Don Arbogast, Jeff Arbogast, John "Mutt" Arbogast, Jerry Joe Arbogast, Ira Sam Arbogast and Claude Denver Arbogast.
Amenthia graduated from Elkins High School with the Class of 1958. She was a homemaker and caregiver to her family and loved helping her friends. She was a very happy lady who loved her many friends. She was a Protestant by faith.
Friends may call from noon until 12:50 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins.
Pastor Bryan Headley will officiate. Internment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center Activity Fund, 2533 Beverly Pike, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Amenthia.
