Mr. Charles William "Bill" Boyles, 94, a resident of Belington, departed this life Friday morning, May 31, 2024, in the Mountain Living Community Assisted Living Facility at Belington. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born April 18, 1930, a son of the late Claude Clell and Genevieve Gay (Coontz) Boyles. On March 19, 1955, at Belington, he was united in marriage to the former Patricia Ann McClintic, who survives at their home in Belington.
Left to cherish his memory are two children, Mark William Boyles and wife, Lawayne, of Basin, Wyoming, and Marsha Ellen Ford and husband, Melvin, of Germantown, Maryland. Five grandchildren, Maggie, Molly, Kodi, Kassie and Keri; and 10 great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Tim and Debra Starkey of Belington.
Mr. Boyles was a graduate of the Belington High School with the class of 1948.
Upon graduation, he attended WVU and D&E College, he then answered the call of duty and joined the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War Era. After his time in the Air Force Mr. Boyles worked at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Maryland from which he retired.
Bill attended the Belington First Baptist Church, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and he enjoyed rebuilding antique tractors, spending many hours with Joel Martin and Tim Starkey in his garage. He also enjoyed traveling to Wyoming and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Per his request, cremation will be honored. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington at 2 p.m. a memorial service will be conducted from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Julie Miller officiating. Full military honors will also be accorded by the American Legion Post 96 of Belington and the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
