Donna Lee Staten, 79, a resident of Moatsville, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, following a brief stent at Mon General Hospital.
She was born March 18, 1945, in Elkins, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Donald and Mazie Elza Triplett. On May 30, 1964, she was united in marriage to Donald Staten, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her two sons; Donnie Staten and wife, Tish, of Valley Bend, Danny Staten and wife, Kathie, of Moatsville; one daughter-in-law, Sheri Staten of Point Marion, Pennsylvania; and one stepdaughter, Tammy Griffith and husband, Charles, of Utica, Ohio. Five siblings, sisters ,Rosetta Nestor of Wooster, Ohio and Georgie Skidmore of Moatsville, whom she lived with at the time of her death; brothers, Richard Triplett and wife, Donna, of Greensville, South Carolina, Mike Triplett and companion, Jacque Roy, of Parsons, and Howard Triplett and wife, Lynn, of Moatsville.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Sierria Staten, Wade Staten, MacKenzie Staten, Hunter Staten and fiance, Nakisha, Henline and Dalton Staten, Matthew Zirkle and wife, Tori, Elizabeth Brenwalt and husband, Zachary, Doug Staten and wife, Geneva, Brandon Staten, Sarah Trump and fiance, Justin Fontenot, Shane Staten, Mitchel Staten, Kelli Owens and Jeremiah Owens; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and also several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are brothers, Donald Triplett Jr., Frank Triplett, Harold Triplett and Les Triplett; two stepsons, David Staten and Mark Staten; infant great-grandson, Aiden Fontenot; and two special brothers-in-law, Karl Nestor and Ronald Skidmore.
She was a 1964 graduate of the last class from Philippi High School. She was very active in sports through school and continued to play fast pitch softball well into her 40s. Donna was a waitress and home health worker by trade. She was a Christian and never failed to take the opportunity to learn more and share the word with those around her. She was an avid Pirates fan and enjoyed watching them play any chance she got.
At the request of the deceased her remains have been donated to the Human Gift Registry at the WVU School of Medicine.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
