Henry Olin Thompson Jr., 74, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia, departed this life Saturday, June 22, 2024, at West Virginia Caring Hospice in Elkins, West Virginia, with his family by his side.
He was born Friday, May 27, 1950, at Parsons, West Virginia, a son of the late Henry Olin Thompson Sr., and Carol Joan Foster Thompson.
On June 28, 1986, he was married to the former Roberta Jean Poling, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Henry Roy Thompson and significant other, Kaitlynn Barkley, of Parsons; and one daughter, Sabrina Faye Thompson and significant other, Charles Shaffer, of Elkins; two brothers, Charles Daniel "Joe" Thompson and wife, Marilyn, and Foster Allen Thompson, all of Parsons; two grandchildren, Abigail Nicole Shaffer and Noah Ray Shaffer; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Being from a military family, Henry attended several schools and graduated from Frankfurt High School in Germany in 1969. Following graduation, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at several locations, before returning back to Parsons, West Virginia in 1974. He was an excellent cook and loved the time he worked at Timberline. He loved playing his guitar and listening to music. Henry never met a stranger, had a whimsical spirit, was always in a good mood and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family immensely. Henry will be missed tremendously.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, West Virginia, on Sunday, June 30, 2024, from noon until 2 p.m. Cremation will follow.
The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Family or the Hinkle House Food Pantry.
