Mr. Lawrence Lee Plum, 81, a resident of Belington, West Virginia, departed this life Saturday evening June 22, 2024, in the Davis Medical Center at Elkins. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born Aug. 23, 1942, at Thornton, Taylor County, West Virginia, a son of the late Samuel H. and Mabel L. Bolyard Plum. On Nov. 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to the former Rosa Lee Werner, who survives at their home in Belington.
Left to cherish his memory are four children, Sandy Wilmoth and husband, Larry, of Belington, Robert Plum and wife, Jacki, of Belington, Timothy Plum of Belington and Clinton Joe Plum and wife, Rose, of Florida; one sister, Linda England and husband, Bud, of Belington. Additional survivors include eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition, to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Haddix; three brothers, Howard Plum, Jackie Plum and Jimmie Plum.
Lawrence attended the schools of Barbour County and previously worked at the Davis & Elkins College in their maintenance department for many years, from which he retired. In his earlier years he enjoyed playing softball and coached Belington Little League. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and mostly a devoted farmer.
He was a great conversationalist and enjoyed being around people. He loved his family very much and looked forward to spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is loved tremendously and will be greatly missed by many.
Per Lawrence's request for cremation will be honored. Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Thursday June 27, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m. at which time a Memorial Service will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating.
