Ralph E. Wilmoth, 96, of Parsons Road, Elkins, West Virginia, died June 1, 2024, at Mountain Memories, Elkins, West Virginia, following a brief illness.
Mr. Wilmoth was born Nov. 10, 1927, in Elkins, son of the late Howard J. Wilmoth and the late Gypsy Grove Wilmoth.
On Sept. 1, 1948, in Elkins, he married Charlene Kaye Phares, the love of his life, who preceded him in death March 8, 2016.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Pamela Kaye) Suiter of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Mrs. Ross (Patricia Faye) Heisman of Annapolis, Maryland; two sons, Philip Marc and wife, Cathy, of Fairmont, and Paul Michael and wife, Cheryl, of Fairmont.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, Laurel (Suiter) Henshaw and husband, Graham, (their children Madelynne, Emerson, Hannah and Cooper), Erin Suiter, Whitt Suiter, Evan Heisman and wife, Morgan, (their children Brixton and Macey), Rachel (Heisman) Hayes and her husband, Edward, Andrew Wilmoth and wife, Tara, (their son Wesley), Matthew Wilmoth, Gregory Wilmoth and wife, Brittany, (their children Henry, Jack and Eliza), Sarah Wilmoth and Emily Wilmoth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ivey and Katie Pingley; and two brothers, Harry R. Wilmoth, and Joseph R Wilmoth, who was killed in World War II.
Mr. Wilmoth was a 1945 graduate of Elkins High School and a 1950 graduate of Davis & Elkins College. He also graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago in 1945, the Graduate School of Banking of the South (Louisiana State University) in 1961, and the West Virginia School of Banking in 1964. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where he served from 1946-47. After college he worked for Wilts clothing store for seven years. Mr. Wilmoth was employed for over 36 years by the Davis Trust Co., where he served as president & CEO for over 23 years prior to his retirement on Dec. 31, 1993. He served on the board of directors of Davis Trust Company from July 1, 1970 to March 29, 2008, at which time he was named Director Emeritus.
Mr. Wilmoth was an active member of the community. He was a member of Phi Beta Lambda Business Fraternity and was named Outstanding Business Man of the Year in 1981. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Elkins where he served as Treasurer, chairman of the Administrative Board, and served as chairman of the Board of Trustees for over 15 years. He was a fifteen-year member of the board of directors of Davis Memorial Hospital. He was a member and past president of the Elkins Rotary Club, a member of the board of trustees of Davis & Elkins College for nine years, a member of Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the BPOE Lodge 1135.
Mr. Wilmoth enjoyed his large family, traveling with his wife and the game of golf.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, from the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Brian L. Seders officiating.
Interment to follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Airport Road.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church General Fund, 315 Kerens Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Wilmoth.
