Sue Carol Spencer, 83, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday evening, June 22, 2024, at the Davis Medical Emergency Department.
She was born Sept. 20, 1940, at Clarksburg, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Claude H. Skidmore and Alma Pearl Moore Skidmore.
On June 20, 1959, in Elkins, she was married to Lawrence B. Spencer, who preceded her in death Feb. 21, 2020.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Spencer of Elkins, Linda Haddix and husband, Mark, of Elkins, and Sandra Lanham and husband, Leo, of Elkins; one brother, James A. Skidmore of Philippi; and one sister, Eleanor Bibey of Boynton Beach, Florida.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Amy Webster and husband, Ian, Emily Whitlow and husband, Travis, Adam, Hannah and Benjamin Haddix; and one great-grandson, Spencer Whitlow; and her dog, Oreo.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, David, Russell and Eddie Skidmore; and one sister, Betty Ferguson.
She was a graduate of Belington High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Elkins First Church of the Nazarene.
Sue's request for cremation will be honored.
The family will be receiving friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Daniel Rogers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Sue.
