Charlotte Jean Canfield Charlotte Jea

n Canfield (nee: Phillips), 88, of Penfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange.

She was born on July 4, 1935, in Junior, West Virginia, to parents Eustace E. and Virginia D. (nee: McGaughey) Phillips.

Charlotte was a homemaker, where she enjoyed cooking/baking for her family and crocheting. She served as a poll worker at the Board of Elections and loved the Lorain County Fair.

Charlotte’s greatest love was her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether it was at the ball field, a music recital, Grandparents Day at school, shopping, or around her kitchen table she was happiest with her loved ones near. Charlotte had the ability to make everyone that walked through her door feel loved and special.

Charlotte will be missed not only for her great cooking and companionship, but for the genuine kindness and support she gave to all. Those that visited the Lorain County fair knew they could sit and visit with her at the hog barn, or one of her grandchildrens’, or great-grandchildrens’ many activities. Her family could always count on her being in the crowd cheering them on and supporting them. She was the best mom, gram, and great gram a person could ask for and she has left a void that will never be filled.

Those that will love and miss her forever, include her daughters, Stephanie (Dean) White, Sonya (Ronald) Smith, Susan (Ted) Younglas, Sandra Canfield and Shelley (Jay) Goldsmith; sons, Stephen (Rita), Stuart (Becky), Scott (Risa) and Stanley “Craig”(Michele); grandchildren, Melissa Toth, Vickie (Keith) Kelling, Jonathan White, Nicholas White, Stephen (Kelly) Canfield, Patrick Canfield, Nathaniel (Jessica) Smith, Olivia Smith, Timothy (Michelle) Webb, Stacie Fitzgerald, Kelley (Derick) Roach, Karlie (Ethan) Gill, Monica (Joel) Gross, Robert (Kelli) Canfield, Jared (Megan) Canfield, Nicholas Fincham, Kyle (Ashley) Canfield, Daniel (Nichole) Goldsmith and Cole Goldsmith; great-grandchildren, Curtis, Justin, Matthew (Grace), Naomi, Remi, Bowie, Samuel, Conner, Caitlin, Tucker, Logan, Kinsley, Bentley, Mason, Gavin, Adelyn, Emerson, Maria, Charlotte, Anne-Elise, Jackson, David, Mattilyn, Faith, Reid and Jude; brother, Robert (Ruth) Phillips; many nieces and a nephew.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Constance Varner; brother-in-law, Alfred Varner; and the father of her children, Carroll Canfield.

A graveside service for her cremains will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Knights of Pythias Mountain View Cemetery near Junior. Interment will follow.
