Richard Carl Smith
Richard Carl Smith, 84, of Port Deposit, Maryland, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, in the ChristianCare Union Hospital of Elkton, Maryland.
Born May 24, 1939, in Elkins, West Virginia, he was the son of the late James and Mary Boggs.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army 101 Airborne, having served from 1959 until 1961. He was retired from the former Wiley Manufacturing Company of Port Deposit, Maryland, where he was employed in Quality Control.
Mr. Smith is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Crouse (Mike), Lorrey Padon (Jeff), Angela Troy (Greg) and Connie Thayer (STILL HASN’T FOUND A HUSBAND); son, Robbie Smith (Amelia); 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Carr, Wanda Cutright, Lorraine Chilgren; and one brother, Charles Shomo.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Smith; and sons, Frank Thayer and Kent Thayer.
Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2-24, at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon Cemetery on Scott’s Lake Road, Beverly.
