James LeRoy Buddingh

BUDDINGH

James LeRoy Buddingh, 90, a resident of Parsons, West Virginia, departed this life early Monday morning, Aug. 12, 2024, at the Davis Medical Center.

He was born Saturday, March 24, 1934, at Kent County, Michigan, on a farm, a son of the late Fredrick Rudolph Buddingh and Carol Evelyn Vanzee Buddingh.

On June 13, 1993, at Glen Bernie, Maryland, he was married to the former Margaret Eleanor Bell, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, James Mathew Buddingh and wife, Jenay, all of California; three daughters, Carla Jean Buddingh, Daliah Ann Buckley and Pamela Lynn Kolat and husband, Bulant, all of California; one step-son, Douglas Clay Rhodes and wife, "Angel," of Virginia; two step-daughters, Rebecca Ann Kimes and husband, Bill, of Maryland, and Sherill Lynn Teung and husband, John, of Florida; two sisters, Carol Ahern and Dorothy Fjeld and husband, Jack, all of Santa Anna, California; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; 12 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and several step-great-great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death are one son, Mark Wade Buddingh; one step-son, Rocky Allen Rhodes of Maryland; and one brother, Jan Karl Buddingh; and one sister, Nancy Sue Buccieri.

He was a graduate of Amphitheater High School of Tuscan, Arizona, with the class of 1952 He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He attended the Acme School for Tool & Die Engineer in 1962, where he also taught for a couple of years. He then went on to Orange County Junior College. He was a dairyman, served in the military, was a technical illustrator and worked for a contractor as an art director for the U.S. Navy, when he retired. He was a member of the Union Chapel Church at Brushy Fork. He loved to paint, draw pictures and play the guitar and sing.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, West Virginia, on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, from 10 until 11 a.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev.James Snyder will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, West Virginia, where full military honors will be accorded by members of the West Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard Program, the Tucker County Veterans Association and the Tygarts Valley Post 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
