James Michael ‘Jim’ Summerfield

Jim was born Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1948, in Cass, a son of the late Neven Summerfield and Gwendolyn Faye Moore Summerfield.

Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his wife of 51 years, Nancy Jo Atkinson Summerfield of Elkins; one son, Matthew Carl Summerfield and his partner, Juliet Smith, her son, Owen; a beloved grandson, Nevin David Summerfield; sisters, Nancy Helmick and husband, Dennis, and Patricia Wamsley; siblings-in-law, David and Janet Atkinson and Barbara Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was a graduate of Elkins High School and served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1970. He was employed by Napa for 40 years, and he was a longtime member of H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion.

Jim’s request for cremation will be honored with no services.

The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for James Michael “Jim” Summerfield.
