Maryn Gay (Williams) Shaw
Mrs. Maryn Gay (Williams) Shaw, 84, a former resident of Mill Creek and more recently of The Stonehaven Home in Belington, went home to be with her Savior early Friday morning Aug. 9, 2024, in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born Jan. 25, 1940, at Cassity, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Foster Gay Williams Sr. and the former Mable Lucinda (Rader).
On Feb. 28, 1959, she was united in marriage to Donald Harold Shaw, who preceded her in death on May 9, 2022.
Left to cherish her memory are two children, Kem Douglas Shaw and wife, Danita, of Milton, West Virginia, and Lisa Ann Hart and husband, Phil, of Belington, West Virginia; one sister, Rachel Lane of Ohio; three brothers, Marshall Williams and wife, Nancy, of Mill Creek, West Virginia, Foster Williams and wife, Sue, of Harding, West Virginia, and Johnny Williams I and wife, Margie, of Belington, West Virginia.
Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Hart of Belington, West Virginia, Heather Dawn Johnson and husband, Charlie, of Jerusalem, Ohio, Benjamin Seth Hart of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Caleb David Shaw and wife, Jennifer, of Springfield, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Griffin, Madison, Caroline and River and soon to be another great-grandchild, Amber Shaw.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five siblings, Carol Williams, Norma Bohon, Thelma Beck, Betty Diddy, Carp Williams and two infant brothers.
She was also preceded in death by one special friend, Ester Taylor.
Mrs. Shaw attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of the Tygart Valley High School with the class of 1958, after graduation she attended the Davis and Elkins College. She was a member of the Memorial Misson Church in Mill Creek for over 50 years. She formerly worked for the Reidboard Brothers and was a teacher’s aide for several years in the Randolph County School System. Maryn found great joy working with and being with the children on a daily basis. She was very involved in all of the church functions and she loved her church family very much. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Monday Aug. 12, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour, at which time final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Randy Long officiating.
Interment will then follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington.
