Russell H. "Butch" Ward II, 79, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, in the Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born Jan. 14, 1945, in Elkins, a son of the late Russell H. Ward and the late Rachel Weese Ward.
Surviving are two sons, Russell H. "Butch" Ward III of Elkins and Thomas C. "T.C". Ward of Frisco, North Carolina; one brother, Charles Ward and wife, Vickie, of Elkins; one sister, Cinthia Talbott and husband, Darroll, of Elkins; and two grandsons, Russell H. Ward IV and Hunter James Ward.
Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Sheila Gray Ward and Judy M. Summerfield.
"Butch' attended the schools of Randolph County and Davis & Elkins College. He was employed as a Machinist at Ward's Welding and Machine Shop for many years prior to his retirement and attended the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins.
A graveside service will be held at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, at the Ward Family Cemetery on the Ward Road near Elkins.
Pastor T. Wes Moore will officiate and interment will follow.
The family request, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Randolph County Senior Center, P.O. Box 727, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of "Butch."
