Travis Neil Coontz

COONTZ

Travis Neil Coontz, 42, a resident of Louisa, Virginia, departed this life Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at the UVA Health University Hospital at Charlottesville, Virginia. He had been in failing health, although death was unexpected.

He was born Sunday, Aug. 23, 1981, in Elkins, West Virginia, a son of Harold Dale Coontz and Lillian Alice Sponaugle Coontz, of Louisa, Virginia.

Surviving is one sister, Erica Dixon and husband, Dave, of Richmond, Virginia; two nieces, Bailey and Zoe Dixon; and one nephew, David Dixon; and many special aunts and uncles and cousins that he grew up with.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ward and Verna Sponaugle; paternal grandparents, Ray and Catherine Coontz; and his beloved pet husky, Rayzr.

He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1999 and attended Fairmont State University. He worked as an auto mechanic and then a service writer at University Tire at Charlottesville, Virginia.

Travis was an auto enthusiast, and his passion was working on and modifying vehicles, mostly import models. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast. He worked as a carpenter alongside his Dad for several years.

Travis was a Christian by faith. He loved all of his family, especially his nieces and nephew.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins, West Virginia, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Pastor Bob Yothers will officiate and interment will follow at Mt. State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
