Mrs. Donna June (Parsons) Lawrence, 83, a resident of Belington and more recently of the Tygart Valley Health and Rehabilitation at Belington (formerly the Good Samaritan Society of Barbour County, departed this life late Wednesday evening in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born Feb. 27, 1941, at Parsons, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Daryl Lovell and Hazel Irene (Shaffer) Parsons.
On Aug. 31, 1959, she was united in marriage to Lorren J. “Jack” Lawrence, who preceded her in death on April 6, 2002.
Mrs. Lawrence is survived by three sons, Jack Lawrence of Hendricks, West Virginia, “Tex” Lawrence and wife, Tammy, of Alum Bridge, West Virginia, and Greg “Jee” Lawrence and wife, Clara, of Belington; and one daughter, Shelly Krizner and husband, Frank, of Philippi.
In addition to her children, she is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son, Todd M. Lawrence, two brothers; Neil and Richard Parsons; and two sisters, Jean Gilmore and JoAnne Sakal.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a 1959 graduate of the Parsons High School and was a longtime member of the Pentecostal Church of God at Hambelton, West Virginia, where she was very active. Mrs. Lawrence was instrumental in her husband’s trucking company where she was the office manager of Lawrence Trucking. She loved to travel with her husband Jack, and was an avid flower gardener. She was a great fan of Elvis Presley, but most importantly she loved her family very much and would care for any family members or friends that were in need. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will definitely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, from 5-9 p.m. and again on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour, at which time final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Bishop Randy Lawrence officiating.
Interment will then follow in the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, West Virginia.
