Mary Ann Dickerson Phillips
Mary Ann Dickerson Phillips, departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 8, 2024, at the age of 91.
She was born in Hiawatha, West Virginia, on May 25, 1933, the daughter of Cora Mae and Thurman Dickerson, of Princeton, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayward L. Phillips, and they were married for 64 years.
Surviving are son, Hayward L. Phillips Jr. and wife, Jane, and daughter, Melody Phillips-Williams and husband, Doug, of Williamstown, West Virginia; grandson, Thurman Kyle Phillips and wife, Courtney, of Chesapeake, Virginia;, and great-grandson, Weston Phillips; grandson, Mike Payette, of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers, Palmer Dickerson, of Kernersville, North Carolina, Thurman Dickerson Jr. of Athens, West Virginia, and Jack Dickerson, Roanoke, Virginia; and in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann graduated from Matoaka High School, class of 1951. Mary Ann was a Christian lady and led a faithful, Jesus filled life and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Parsons, West Virginia. Mary Ann, first and foremost, loved her family, as well as her church, working in her flower garden, baking, shopping, listening to music and reading. While Mary Ann was a homemaker, she also spent several years working at Barb’s Drug Store in Parsons, and as a hostess at Humphrey’s restaurant in Parsons. Mary Ann was also a member of the Purple Majesty Red Hatters Chapter of Elkins, West Virginia.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, West Virginia, on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Gregory Smith will officiate and interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows.
