Mrs. Barbara Ann Baughman Moran, 85, a resident of Philippi, departed this life early Thursday morning, Oct. 17, 2024, in the Mansfield Place Care Facility at Philippi. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born Jan. 18, 1939, at Philippi, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Gonzalio Dee and Jesse Pearl Himes Baughman.
On June 23, 1989, she was united in marriage to Don Lee Moran, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2004.
Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Nancy Ann Noell of, Phillipi; a son, David Lee Summerfield Sr. and wife, Betty, of Philippi; four grandchildren, Rinda Haller and husband, Matthew, of Philippi, J.D. Noell of California, Vickie Hathaway and husband, Brad, of Georgia, Douglas Summerfield and wife, Jennifer, of the White Oak Community, and Garrett Summerfield of Charleston.
Seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, James Dee Summerfield and Joseph Brian Summerfield; a daughter, Jacqueline Ann Summerfield; a brother, James Ralph Summerfield; a sister, Betty Jo Baughman; a grandson, David Summerfield Jr.; her former husband, Jack Lee Summerfield; and two infant children.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Barbara attended the schools of Barbour County and also attended Corley United Methodist Church near Belington. She, along with her husband Don, were owners and operators of Don's Place Convenience Store near Belington. She was a member of the Belington VFW Laurel Mountain Post 410 Ladies Auxiliary and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed being outdoors and going fishing. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, on Monday Oct. 21, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Jospeh Palmer officiating.
Per Barbara's request, cremation will be honored. Interment of her cremains will be at the Lambert Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
