Barbara L. Carroll, 91, a former resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at River Oaks Healthcare Center at Nutter Fort, West Virginia.
She was born Jan. 19, 1933, at Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Carl Manson Degler and Kohlon Davis Degler.
On Feb. 13, 1951, at Staunton, Virginia, she was married to Donald Lee Carroll, who preceded her in death July 9, 2009.
Barbara is survived by two sons, James Dewey Carroll and wife, Dawn, of Elkins, and Daniel Vinson Carroll and wife, Chris, of Hawthorne, Florida; and one daughter, Cynthia Lee Conway and husband, David, of Salem, West Virginia.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Dorothy Lynn Carroll of Tennessee, Bobbi Conway Brand and husband, Charlie, of Fairmont, Daniel Conway and fiance, Marcia, of College Station, Texas, Alicia Joy Carroll of Elkins, David "Jesse" Carroll of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, and Danielle Carroll Walker and husband, Sam, of Hawthorne, Florida; and two great-grandchildren, Kyler Lawson of Maryville, Tennessee, and Christopher Thomas Walker of Hawthorne Florida.
Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were one son, George Manson Carroll; and one grandson, Christopher Dewey Carroll.
Barbara was a Library Assistant at Davis & Elkins College prior to her retirement. She was a member of Randolph Chapter No. 74, Order of the Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church in Elkins.
Barbara's request for cremation will be honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 in memory of Barbara.
