David Harold "Bud" Gregory, 82, a resident of Gilman, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the Tygart Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in Belington, WV with his family by his side and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
He was born Feb. 19, 1942 at Elkins, a son of the late Thomas Henry Gregory and Radie Katherine Burns Gregory.
He was formerly married to Evelyn Gregory.
He is survived by two sons, David Gregory Jr. and Kathy Robinson and Robert "Bobby" Gregory of Elkins; two daughters, Jessica Gregory Lowther and husband, Rueben Lowther, of Lewis County, and Jennifer Gregory and Jacob Carr of Barbour County.
Eleven grandchildren, Alex Walters, David R. Gregory, Thomas Gregory, Harland Gregory, Archer Kitzmiller, Floyd Ellis Carr, Rueben David "RD" Lowther, Elizabeth Gregory, Darius Lowther, Byron Lowther and Grayson Lowther also survive.
Also preceding him in death was one sister, Linda Jane Gregory Chenoweth; three half-sisters, Rheatha Gregory Weese, Ruth Elza and Helen Conrad; and one half-brother, Robert Thomas Gregory.
Mr. Gregory attended the schools of Randolph County, where he was known for his immaculate penmanship and was a graduate of Elkins High School. He was a deck saw operator with Charles D. Roberts Company prior to his retirement. His interest in machinery started early in life, so much that his dad would swear that every time he went to work on something, he had to look through the bill of Bud's ball cap. He was a cattle farmer and a well-known farm equipment mechanic and restorer. In his later years, he could be found with a cold coca cola in hand, his dog at his feet, and the "RFD" channel set at max volume.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 15, from the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in the Gregory Cemetery on Roney Run Road at Gilman. Feel welcomed to come, not to say goodbye, but to instead say, see you next time.
