Fred Allen ‘Freddie Mac’ McDonald

Fred Allen "Freddie Mac" McDonald, 79, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at the Camden Clark Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 2, 1945, in Elkins, West Virginia, a son of the late Theodore "Ted" and Ruth Baxter McDonald.

Fred was retired after 22 years of service from the U.S. Air Force, where he was a Master Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW both of Elkins, West Virginia. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family, enjoyed all sports and was previously coach and referee.

He is survived by his three daughters, Tonia McDonald of Vienna, Jessica McDonald of Parkersburg and Kiwoni Johnson of Texas; Claudette McDonald, mother of his daughters; his siblings, Phil McDonald (Barbara) of Delaware, Joyce Baxter of Michigan and Ronald McDonald of California; grandchildren, Kyshel Donaway, Gurmel McDonald, Mario McDonald (Breanna), Talisha McDonald, Marcus McDonald, Curtis McDonald (Bobbi Sue), Kevin Curry II, Deondre McDonald and Ayanna McDonald; 29 great-grand-children; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his son, Fred A. McDonald Jr., and his daughter, Joyce Bateman.

An End of Life Service will be Saturday, Nov. 2, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Zion Baptist Church in Parkersburg.
