Mary Lynn Skidmore Fessler
Mary Lynn Skidmore Fessler, 81, a resident of Beverly, West Virginia, departed this life Wednesday morning, Oct. 2, 2024, at Mountain Memories Assisted Living at Elkins with her family at her side and under the care of WV Caring.
She was born Monday, June 28, 1943, at Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of the late Cloyd B. Skidmore and Mary Ann Yeager Skidmore.
On Sept. 19, 1987, at Forestville, Maryland, she was married to John Stanley Fessler, who preceded her in death April 1, 2022.
Surviving are one son, Brian C. Allen of Urbana, Maryland; one daughter, Theresa G. Nester of Sykesville, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Tina, Lisa, Samantha, Dylan, Angela, Michael and Brian; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Cameron, Athena and Emelia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Jack Skidmore and Charles Skidmore.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School. She worked as a Statistician with the U.S. Census Bureau for over thirty years. She was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church and the Holy Rosary Guild. Her hobbies included sewing and reading, and she loved genealogy. She enjoyed being “Grandma” and spending time with the grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Saint Brendan Catholic Church of Elkins on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., a Vigil Rite will be recited.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at 11 a.m., from the Church.
The Rev. Father Jim O’Connor will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, West Virginia.
