Nellie Blanche Shreves

Nellie Blanche Shreves, 91, of Beverly, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.

She was born Monday, Aug. 14, 1933, in Elkins, daughter of the late John and Mary Bright.

On Dec. 24, 1954, she married the late Junior Cordell Shreves in Elkins.

She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Blake and husband, Donald, of Belington, Charlene Landis and husband, Robert, of Beverly, and Marlene Landis of Beverly; six grandchildren, Michelle Smith and husband, Jason, Melissa Landis, Brian Blake and partner, Amber, Donnie Blake, Derrick Blake and partner, Debbie, and Darin Blake and wife, Michelle; nine grandchildren, Kaila Channell, Trevor Hammonds and wife, Leenette, Devon Hammonds, Kyleigh Smith, Destiney Trail and husband, Skylar, Jarrett Blake, Brianna Blake, Cordell Blake and Gracie Blake; five great-grandchildren, Jaxson Channell, Mason Channell, Landon Trail, Cecily Hammonds and Leland Trail.

Nellie is survived by her beloved dog, Lexie, who was her companion and sidekick in her later years.

Also surviving are sister, Texie Mallow; and sister-in-laws, Jacqueline Bright and Fran Mosser.

Nellie is also survived by special life-long friends, Charlie Landis, Leonard Crites and Tommy Coberly.

Preceding her in death were husband, Junior Shreves; parents, John and Mary Bright; sisters, Alice Tharp, Dessie Phillips, Ethel Stevens, Eva Breakiron, Flossie Hardy and Fannie Shreves; and brothers, Robert Bright, Burley Bright and Daniel Bright.

Mrs. Shreves attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed and retired from Reidbord Brothers. Nellie loved to spend time with her family and late husband, Junior. Nellie and Junior enjoyed their garden, where they grew and canned vegetables. She also enjoyed going to yard sales, walking with her dog and listening to music.

Nellie was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Nellie’s life will be honored at Randolph Funeral Home in Valley Bend, on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024.

Family will be received at 10 a.m. and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 pm.

The funeral service will be officiated by Jason Smith at 1 p.m.

Interment will immediately follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens.
