David Allen Elmore

ELMORE

David Allen Elmore, 69, a resident of the Jimtown Community, West Virginia, departed this life Monday afternoon Nov. 18, 2024, at his home.

He was born Sunday, Feb. 13, 1955, at Warren, Ohio, a son of the late John Dayton Elmore and Elsie Marie Miller Elmore.

Surviving are two sisters, Donna Marie Polce and husband, Michael, and Deborah Lee Conley and husband, Greg, of Jimtown, West Virginia; one step-daughter, Chrystle Miller of Elkins, West Virginia; six step-grandchildren, Autumn, Jessie, Krissy, Brittany, Lilly and Addy; nine step-great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Kinzley, Karter, Jaxson, Khole, JJ, Jayden, Eliajah and Isaiah and one on the way; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, Calvin Andrew Elmore and Roy Glenn Elmore; and one sister, Diana Lucille Workman; and stepson, Dusty Bennett.

He was a graduate of Coalton High School with the class of 1973, and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was a former employee of Island Creek Coal Company at Baird, West Virginia, and a Christian by Faith. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially coon hunting.

David enjoyed his grandchildren and nieces and nephews tremendously.

David and his late father both guarded Rudolph Hess in prison in Germany during their military time. Rudolph Hess was considered the right-hand man of Adolph Hitler.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins, West Virginia, on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m.

The Rev. Kevin Gainer will officiate and interment will follow at the Phillips Cemetery at Jimtown, West Virginia.
