David McNeil Murphy

Dave had been in declining health for some time but this was very unexpected. He had never really been the same since he lost his best friend and brother, Howard (Junior) Murphy, earlier this year.

Dave never married nor had kids. He never left home but stayed home to take care of his mother after his dad had passed away. After his mother’s passing, he stayed home to take care of his childhood home.

Dave very much kept to himself but did enjoy hunting, the outdoors, music and was an avid western fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Murphy; his mother, Mary Murphy; brother, Howard Murphy Jr.; brother, Billy Murphy; and sister, Dianna Shreve.

He is survived by his sisters, Dicy Likens and Brenda (Mike) House; close nephews, Charles Likens, Jesse Likens, James Murphy and Robert Johnson; nieces, Tammie Rizzio, Teresa Johnson, and Tonya Stockton; great-nephews, Vincent Likens and Alexander Johnson; great-niece, Alexus Shobe; and several nephews and nieces; and great-nephews and great- nieces.

Dave was a Baptist by faith

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday at noon.

Pastor Mike House will officiate and interment will follow at the Leading Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Montrose, West Virginia.

The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for David McNeil Murphy.
