Holly Susan Hughes Reilly

Holly Susan Hughes Reilly, 76, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, in the Davis Medical Center Emergency Department. She had been in declining health, but her death was unexpected.

She was born July 7, 1948, at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Bernard Hughes and Gladys Brown Hughes.

Holly was very proud that her father had been Superintendent of the Hampshire County Schools.

On Jan. 11, 1980, in Beverly, she was married to Robert Bernard "Buck" Reilly, who preceded her in death May 13, 2014.

She is survived by two sons, Leo Patrick Reilly and wife, Amanda, of Farmington, West Virginia, and Phillip Bernard Reilly of Elkins; three sisters-in-laws, Patricia "Pat" Rossi and husband, Jim, of Coalton, Linda Lanford of Mabie and Donna Long of Coalton; and two grandchildren, Killian and Cora Reilly.

Also preceding her in death were one sister, Zan Hughes; sisters-in-law, Alice Phillips, Carol Chewning and Kathryn Madden; and brothers-in-law, William Reilly and Mark Lanford.

Holly retired from the Randolph County Board of Education, having taught at Third Ward School. She was a member of the Randolph County Association of Retired School Employees and was active with the WV Educators Association and the Randolph County Republican Party. She was a member of the General Federation of Women's Club of Elkins, the Randolph County Blood Drives in collaboration with the American Red Cross and a long-time member of the YMCA. In 2019, she was honored as a life member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.

She also served as the coordinator of special issues and chairwoman of the Home Life Committee, a member of Circle One of the church, Coordinator of the Presbyterian Women of mission intermediation and action, liaison of the church Women United and a leader of the blanket project.

Holly's request for cremation has been honored.

The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Robert McCuteon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 in memory of Holly.
