John K. ‘Jack’ Daniels

John K. "Jack" Daniels, 82, a resident of the Chenoweth Creek community, Elkins, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2024 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.

He was born Feb. 9, 1942, at Elkins, a son of the late Clyde K. Daniels and Mary Ellen Noonan Daniels.

On Jan. 1, 1964, he was married to Marlene Smouse, who preceded him in death Feb. 15, 2021. He is survived by one son, John K. Daniels II of Elkins; one daughter, Lisa Smith and husband, Bob, of Elkins; and two grandchildren, John K. "Jack" Daniels III of Fairmont, West Virginia, and Jennifer Daniels of Morgantown, West Virginia.

Also preceding him in death in addition to his parents and wife were two sisters, Patricia D. Painter and Clydetta Daniels; and one brother, Dr. Joseph W. Daniels.

Jack was retired from the United States Forestry Service having worked as a survey technician. He was a 50-year Master Mason as a member of Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM; Osiris Shrine of Wheeling; Pilgrim Commandry No. 21; Elkins Chapter 35 Royal Arch Masons, Scottish Rite Charleston Valley and was Past Worthy Patron of Randolph Chapter No. 74 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church of Elkins and also the Benevolence Baptist Church of Valdosta, Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tristan Tenney officiating. Interment will follow at Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road where members of Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice in memory of Jack.
