Mr. Kermit Darwin Booth, 104, a longtime resident of Elkhart, Indiana, and formerly of Junior, West Virginia, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 19, 2024, in the Hubbard Hill Estates, Inc Nursing Facility at Elkhart, Indiana. Death was following complications from pneumonia after hip surgery.
He was born July 19, 1920, at Junior, West Virginia, a son of the late Brennis Dorman and Beuna Vista Ware Booth.
On Oct. 9, 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Norma Lorraine Groves, who preceded him in death on Jan. 28, 2006.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Ann Lambdin of Bristol, Indiana; two grandchildren, Shane Lambdin and companion, Marsha Stiles, and Stacy Lambdin and fiance, Richard Hebard; a sister, Emaloyn Reed of Elkins, West Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Gage Lambdin and companion, Bailey, Logan Lambdin and Niya Fallace; and a great- great-granddaughter; Eleni Lambdin. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William "Bud" Booth and Leroy Booth; a sister, Madalyn Moore; and a son-in-law, Richard Lambdin.
Kermit attended the schools of Barbour County and he was previously employed at Miles Laboratory as a factory worker in Elkhart, Indiana, from which he retired. He was also a coal miner for 22 years when he was still living in West Virginia. He was a proud Veteran in the Army-Airforce, serving in WWII and was a member of the church of the Brethren in Indiana. He was an avid golfer and bowler and continued to do so until his health no longer allowed him. He loved to build clocks, hovercrafts and loved his Moto Guzzi Motorcycle. He loved to travel with his wife, traveling all around the world together. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
He will then be moved to the Knights of Pythias /Mt. View Cemetery, where graveside rites will be conducted from the cemetery with the Evangelist Michael Phillips officiating and full military rites will be conducted by the United States Army and the American Legion Post 96 of Belington.
Interment will follow.
