Michael Joseph Phillips

He was born April 7, 1960, at Parsons, West Virginia, a son of the late Edgar Newton Phillips and Alice Christena Wilt Phillips Flanagan.

He had never married.

Left to cherish his memory are two brothers, Larry “Squeak” Phillips and wife, Donna, of Belington, and Thomas Howard Phillips and companion, Debbie, of Belington; two sisters, Anita Kathryn Phillips of Belington and Rebecca Shaffer and husband, Kevin, of Oakland, Maryland; five nieces, Christena Shaffer, Valarie Cross, Sue Sibley, Hope Wilhoit and Amber and Faith Phillips; five nephews, Greg Phillips, David Phillips, Kody Shaffer, Joey Phillips and David Shaffer.

Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Phillips; and his step-father, Herbert “Bud” Flanagan.

Michael was a graduate of the Philip Barbour High School with the class of 1978. He was lastly employed by Ricottilli Fencing before becoming disabled. He was a member of the Stringtown Church near Belington. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing his guitar and writing songs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St in Belington, on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, from noon to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, where final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Lay Speaker George Harris officiating.

Per Michael’s request cremation will be honored. Interment of his cremains will be scheduled for a later date in the Stringtown Cemetery near Belington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Stringtown Cemetery 1218 Hunters Fork Road Belington, WV 26250.
