Roger G. Haney, 80, a resident of Huttonsville passed from this life Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, in Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Roger was born Wednesday, June 28, 1944, in Mill Creek, a son of the late Oral Haney Sr. and Lula Fincham Haney. On April 15, 1975, in Mill Creek, he married the former Deloris Jean Lambert. They had celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Also left to cherish Roger's memory are four children, Tommy Haney of Mill Creek, Jeffrey Allen Haney of Elkins, Kimberly Cheek of North Carolina, and Donna Sue Lemasters and husband, Thomas, of Elkins; six grandchildren, Shantel Lemasters, Joshua Lemasters, Zackery Lemasters, Victoria Lemasters, Justin Lemasters, and Ashley McCune; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Roger was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by six brothers, Harold Haney Carl Haney, Oral Haney Jr., Jerry Haney, Richard Haney and Thurman Haney; five sisters, Mary Runner, Gatha Pierce, Barbara Conrad, and infant sisters, Maxine Haney and Geraldine Haney; one son, Billy Lane Haney; and one grandson, Jeffrey Haney.
Roger attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked as a logger for several area sawmills. He also worked as a truck driver as well as many other jobs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trading odds and ends with friends.
Roger's request for cremation was honored. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
