Ruth May Long Gotinsky, 86, a resident of the Pheasant Run Community, Kerens, West Virginia, departed this life Tuesday morning, Nov. 5, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family and under the care of West Virginia Caring Hospice.
She was born Saturday, May 28, 1938, at Haddix, West Virginia, in Tucker County, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Mahalia Plum Long.
On Oct. 12, 1956, at Red House, Maryland, she was married to Ernest William Gotinsky, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Beverley Dawnella Gotinsky of Shavers Fork and Teresa Ernestine Brusak and husband, James Anthony, of Erwin, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Teresa and husband, Allan, Doug, Coltan and wife, Dannie, Devlin and wife, Beth, Roy and wife, Kaylon, Liana, and Logan; eight great-grandchildren, Lucas, Avagrace, Ruthie, Emma, Isaac, Johnnie, Grayson and Maddox.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two brothers, Frank William Long and Roy Daniel Long; and seven sisters, Bertha Long, Helen Wotring, Georgie Long, Alberta Poveromo, Dessie Haube, Edith Scott and Indianna Brown.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1956 and received a degree in early childhood development and also received a degree in Nursing. She managed the OBGYN department in White Marsh Medical Center for five years. She was a member of the Hendricks United Methodist Church and also attended St. John's United Methodist Church and the Parsons Church of God. She enjoyed working in the yard and in the garden, where she loved her flower gardens and her day lilies. Ruth also enjoyed quilting and taught quilting at Camp Horseshoe for 15 years. She helped raise her grandchildren and loved them very much.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons, West Virginia, on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 pm.
Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home Monday at 1 p.m.
Pastor Donna Bolinger will officiate and interment will follow at the Moore Community Cemetery at Moore, West Virginia.
