Sharon L. Moats, 76, of Philippi passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, at the Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon.
She was born Feb. 18, 1948, a daughter of the late William "Bill" and Lena (Nestor) Green. She was united in marriage Nov. 20, 1966, to the late Roger L. Moats.
Also preceding her in death are sister, Terry Olay of Texas; and brothers-in-law William "Bill" Upton of Fairmont and Philip Knight of Philippi.
Surviving are one daughter, Tamara L. (Moats) and husband, Matt Snider, of Philippi; one son, Brian K. Moats and husband, Tim Broadwater, of Morgantown; one grandson, Steven Burner of Philippi; six sisters, Betty and husband, Ernie Sisler, of Philippi, Karen Upton of Fairmont, Shirley and husband, John Manko, of Maryland, Janet Knight and fiance, Lynn Davis, of Philippi, Judy and husband, Bill Smith, of South Carolina, an Mary Maxson of Volga; one brother, John and wife, Priscilla Green, of Philippi; and one brother-in-law, Honorato "Nory" Olay of Texas.
Mrs. Moats attended Fairmont State College and earned an associate degree in nursing. She retired in 2014 from Broaddus Hospital after a long and successful career as a registered nurse and supervisor.
Mrs. Moats was member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church, having served as a board member, secretary/treasurer, and lay leader. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 41.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut Street, Philippi, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, with the Rev. Tami Shoup officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Moatsville.
