Z. Kathryn (Kay) Nelson Hudgins, 90, of French Creek, departed this life on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024.
She was born on July 8, 1934, in Long, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Wilbert Perry and Sophie Irene Brenwald Shiflett.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her former husband, Roscoe Nelson; one son, Randy Nelson; and two granddaughters, Ciara Brooke Howard and Tiara Nicole Howard.
She is survived by one daughter, Joni Nelson-Howard of French Creek; one son, Keith Nelson and wife, Tish, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Cassie and husband, George Patrick Andrews, and Kristin and husband, Josh Wilt; two great grandsons, Tanner and Austin Andrews; two great- granddaughters, Presley and Payton Wilt; and a special great- granddaughter, Kendall Brooke.
Kay was a member of the Eastern Star and recent recipient of her 50-year pin. She was also a member of the VFW and DAV Ladies' Auxiliaries, and the Moose and Eagles Lodges. She was a talented seamstress and crocheter and had formerly owned and operated several businesses in Upshur County.
A graveside service and interment will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at 1 p.m., at the French Creek Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Wease Day officiating.
