Gary Wayne Shaffer

Gary was born Nov. 19, 1947, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, a son of John Glenneth and Alda Alene (Nitz) Shaffer.

Gary was a graduate of Philip Barbour High School, class of 1965. Gary served in the US Army from 1967-1969. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigations. He attended the Boulder Church. Gary enjoyed golfing and was working at the Barbour Country Club. He liked to hunt, fish, and take side-by-side rides through the community. Gary also liked to participate in events at Lil Moe’s.

Gary is survived by his children, Traci Shaffer and companion, Bart McCauley, and Jason Shaffer and wife, Constance; and grandchildren, Samantha, Hunter, Cody Mason and Hudson Shaffer.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alda Shaffer; and son, John Paul Shaffer.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorial contributions be made to the Barbour Country Club.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory, 220 N Walnut St. Philippi, on Friday, Dec. 27, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., from the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Sam Haught officiating.

The presentation of the flag will be conducted by the WV Honor Guard.
