William Gail ‘Bill’ Morgan

William Gail "Bill" Morgan, 83, a resident of Monterville West Virginia, departed this life at 1:22 in the afternoon, Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, at Mountain Memories Assisted Living & Retirement Center under the care of WV Caring Hospice.

He was born Aug. 17, 1941 at Hemlock, West Virginia, the only child of Gail and Luellen Morgan.

Bill graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in May of 1959 and then joined the Army.

On Aug. 27, 1960, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Dora Conrad, who was the daughter of Arden and Marie Conrad. They are the parents of two children, Anita Phillips (Claude) and Jeffrey Morgan (Ann). Also surviving are three grandchildren, Andrea Summerfield (Kelvin), Danielle Currence (Jason) and Joshua Morgan (Samantha); one step-granddaughter, Debbie Brown; five great-grandchildren, Brantley, Braxton and Hailey Morgan, Bryce and Trevor Summerfield and Rozalyn Currence; one little neighbor, Alec Currence who called him, "Pap Bill," two step great-grandchildren, Madison and Billy; and four step-pgreat-great grandchildren, Reid, Bo, Owen and Blair.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, MaKenna Summerfield.

Bill retired from the Randolph County School System as a bus driver. He was a Christian and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, from the funeral home chapel with Tim Turner officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mingo Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for William Gail "Bill" Morgan.
