Audrey Gail Vanscoy Irons
Audrey Gail Vanscoy Irons, 88, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 7, 2025, at the Mon Health Medical Center at Morgantown, West Virginia, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Monday, Aug. 24, 1936, at Kerens, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Cicero Cletis Vanscoy and Anna Jane Kalar Vanscoy.
On Jan. 29, 1955, at Kerens, West Virginia, she was married to Lonnis Lee Irons, who preceded her in death Nov. 2, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Rick Lee Irons and wife, Linda, of Elkins, and Brian Keith Irons; one daughter, Brenda Gail Dasher of Elkins; one brother, C. Cletis Vanscoy and wife, Pam, of Elkins; five grandchildren, Justin Irons, Jodi Burke and Shawn, Ryan, and Michelle Dasher; and seven great-grandchildren, Lilly, Aleah, Baelynn, Grady, Reagan, Alonna and Benjamin.
Preceding her in death are three brothers, Hartsel, Chester Dorman and Melvin Lyle “Tiger” Vanscoy; and five sisters, Evelyn J. Raines, Freda L. Martin, Sharon C. Woods, Gertrude Ellen Fazenbaker and Eileen M. Stevens.
Audrey attended the schools of Kerens, had worked as a cook for Davis Memorial Hospital, the Randolph County Senior Center and various restaurants. She was known as “the Pie Lady” and made wreaths and bows for Lonnie’s Christmas Trees for 40 years. She enjoyed canning, quilting and crocheting. Her main focus was her family which she loved so very much.
She was truly a lady of faith, who put the Lord first in everything she did.
Audrey is now in Heaven, spending time selling Christmas trees and gardening with her beloved Lonnis.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home Monday at 1 p.m.
The Rev. David Collins will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
