Dale Clarence Dasher

DASHER

Dale Clarence Dasher, 88, a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at Mountain Memories Assisted Living & Retirement Center.

He was born at the family farm in Marysville, Ohio, on April 29, 1936, a son of the late Clarence and Florence Gugel Dasher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Dasher and wife, Mary K. Dasher; sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Robert Vollrath and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jack and Neva Lee Chalfin.

Surviving him are his wife, Mary Jane Chalfin Dasher, whom he married June 21, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marysville, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary L. Dasher; and a daughter, Molli Sue Dasher Queen, all of Elkins; grandchildren are Shawn Dasher, Elkins, Matthew Cochran of Norton, West Virginia, and Aaron Stahl of Elkins and Ryan and Michelle Dasher of Elkins; great-grandchildren, Alonna and Ben Dasher, Ethan Stahl and Elayana Sparks.

He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Sue Beech and husband, Sandy Beech, Punta Gorda, Florida; nieces, Cheryl (Steve) Hamilton, Dublin, Ohio, and Amy (Gary) Williams, Delaware, Ohio; and a nephew, Larry (Deb) Dasher of Springfield, Ohio; and several great nieces and nephews and extended family.

Dale was a 1954 graduate of Marysville High School and served in the Ohio National Guard. He began his career with the Connolly Construction Company in Marysville, working his way to superintendent.

In 1973, he moved his family to Elkins where he worked for Black Rock Construction at the Kelly Mountain Quarry. Later, he was co-owner of Hawthorne Industries at the Monterville, West Virginia, quarry, owned and operated Dasher Drilling and Loading and retired from Tuffco Sand & Gravel in Plain City, Ohio, in 2001.

Dale and Mary spent several years travelling the United States in their camper. Wanting to live in a warmer climate, they settled in Florida for 20 years, launching his boat and fishing. Life was good!

In 2024, wanting to be closer to family, they returned to Elkins. Family was always important to Dale and being with them was his greatest joy. Dale was a former member of the Tygarts Valley Lions Club and a Life Member of BPOE Lodge No. 1130 in Marysville, Ohio.

Dale’s request for cremation has been fulfilled.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

At 7 p.m. on Thursday, BPOE Lodges 1736 and 1135 will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home chapel.

The family request flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 311 East 6th Street, Marysville, OH 43040 in memory of Dale.
