Jerry Lacy ‘Pap’ Raines

Jerry Lacy “Pap” Raines, 88, passed away on January 24, 2025 at his home on Lower Timber Ridge with his loving wife of 62 years by his side.
He was born on Spruce Knob Mountain in Onego on March 28, 1936, the son of the late Denver and Margie (Harper) Raines.
On Nov. 25, 1962, he married Vivian Lorraine (Jones) Raines in Oakland, Maryland.
Mr. Raines graduated from Circleville High School in 1955 and after 35 years, retired from construction. He was known as a Jack of all trades and loving family man. Nothing was more important to Jerry than his family. He loved spending time with all of them and hunting with them was particularly special. The best title that Jerry ever had was being called Pap!!
Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory a daughter, Jenny Tingler (Dale) of Petersburg, West Virginia; three sons, Todd Raines (Cathy) of Harman, West Virginia; Casey Raines (Jennifer) of Snowy Mt., West Virginia, and Jerry Raines (Monica) Raines of Onego, West Virginia; a sister, Dorothy Wolfe of Martinsburg, West Virginia; a brother, Elton Raines of Cabins, West Virginia; and 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Raines; a sister, Reva Kisamore; and brother-in-law, Bob Wolfe.
Jerry’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. at the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating.
Interment will be at the Raines Family Cemetery, Seneca Rocks, West Virginia.
Memorials in Jerry’s honor may be made to the donor’s choice.
