John Michael ‘Mike’ Fletcher

FLETCHER

John Michael “Mike” Fletcher, 90, a resident of Kerens, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, in the Davis Medical Center.

He was born May 8, 1934, at Lakeland, Florida, a son of the late Robert L. Fletcher and Estelle Lovett Fletcher.

He is survived by one son, Garon Michael Fletcher and wife, Michelle Booth, of Panama City, Florida; four daughters, Debra Jean Marden and husband, Dave, of Sebring, Florida, Leslie Ann Fletcher of Norfolk, Virginia, Melanie Kaye Curry and husband, Eric, of Chattaroy, West Virginia, and Christie L. Kepner and husband, Brent, of Elkins, He was the proud PawPaw of nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by the love of his life, Janet Machesney; one brother, Robert L. Fletcher; and two sisters, Mildred Parker and Martha Ward.

Mike received an associates degree in airplane mechanics and engineering. Prior to his retirement, he was a corporate pilot for Mansbach Metals/Kentucky Electric Steel in Ashland, Kentucky for 30 years. He was a licensed commercial pilot certified in many types of jet aircraft and a certified flight iInstructor. He was an amateur radio operator, KE4VAZ, a colonel with the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, National Ski Patroller.

Mike had an adventurous spirit and was happy wherever he landed. He was happiest visiting with his kids and grandkids, chatting with his neighbors at his Shavers Fork cabin and traveling the world particularly with Janet, his favorite travel partner.

Mike’s request for cremation will be honored and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
