John Ruhl Butcher

BUTCHER
John Ruhl Butcher, 72 passed away unexpectedly Jan. 8, 2025, at his home.
John was born on March 23, 1952, in Lewis County, West Virginia.
He was the son of the late Sarah Mildred and Robert Butcher. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family of nine children.
On Nov. 14, 1982, he married Cheryl Griffith, who survives at home of 42 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Ethetta Mildred (Butcher) Weaver and grand dog Jasper, whom was his little sidekick, also many nieces and nephews and other family members.
John graduated from Lewis County High School with the class of 1970. In his younger days he worked at the Old Weston State Hospital, Union Drilling, Griffith Mobile Homes and many others.
He was a big Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Celtics fan and loved playing cards, also loved to work puzzles with his daughter Ethetta and playing on the computer. He was a big family man and loved then with all his heart. He was a member of the Weston Moose, and a Christian by faith.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory, 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi, on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Friday. Jan. 17, from 8 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m., with Pastor Sam Haught officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
