Kassandra Christine Johnson ‘Kasey’

Kassandra Christine Johnson “Kasey” was born into this world at St Joseph’s hospital in Tucson, Arizona, on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000. She was taken from this life on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, far too soon.
Kasey graduated from Elkins High School in May 2019. At the time of her unexpected passing, she had earned an Associate’s Degree, and was continuing her education at Metropolitan State University in Colorado.
In life, Kasey enjoyed a variety of things. She enjoyed traveling both home and abroad and was able to do so in her short lifetime. She enjoyed experiencing different cultures and cuisines and often tried to replicate the dishes at home. She loved to experiment with cooking, trying different dishes and was very creative in her culinary endeavors. Kasey had a passion for writing and spent a lot of time writing short stories. She enjoyed animals, and had considered becoming a veterinarian, but chose to further her education in literature. Kasey loved music and enveloped herself in it. She loved to experience a broad array of genres, listening to, singing along with and performing karaoke.
Kasey was a bright, loving, creative, beautiful, talented young woman with a real and infectious zest for life, and will be sorely missed.
Kasey is survived by her parents, father Chris Caryle Johnson of Monument, Colorado, and mother, Kathleen Sue Cosner of Elkins, West Virginia; stepparents, Bradley Allen Cosner of Elkins, West Virginia, and KiraBeth Therrien of Monument, Colorado.
Kasey was part of a large blended family of brothers and sisters including, Christopher Michael Viar and partner, Ashley, of Mabie, West Virginia, Kevin Eric O’Neal of Elkins, West Virginia, Cody Allen Cosner of Elkins, West Virginia, Clinton Tyler Cosner and partner, Shelly George, of Beverly, West Virginia, Joshua Lee Harris and wife, Nikki, of Morgantown, West Virginia, James Robert Lee of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Penni Elizabeth Pearl Powell and husband, Nathan Troy Powell, of Springfield, Missouri, Kayla Jeffery and husband, Alex Lee, of Denver, Colorado, and Dana Jeffery of Thailand.
She is also survived by maternal grandparents, James Anthony Petroshus and wife, Iris Darlene, of Tucson, Arizona, Oakley Kenneth Johnson and wife, Linda, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Lynda Louise “Grammy” Cosner of Elkins, West Virginia, and paternal grandparent, Carol Johnson of Apache Junction, Arizona.
Kasey is also survived by several aunts and uncles on her maternal side, including Christy Ann Feurer and husband, Robert Duane, of Columbia, Tennessee, Stephanie Elane Hallier of Texas, Kenneth Lynn Johnson and partner, Jesus DeLeon, of Columbia, Tennessee, Christina Louise Malcomb and husband, Andrew, of Valley Bend, West Virginia; and on her paternal side, including Debbie Fast and husband, Allen Fast, of Cochise, Arizona, Barry Johnson and wife, Tammy Johnson, of Laughlin, Nevada, and Ted Johnson of Tucson, Arizona.
Also surviving are four nieces, four nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandfathers, Raymond W. Johnson of Keister, Minnesota, and Luther Allen “Granddad” Cosner of Elkins, West Virginia; along with cousins, Andrea Rae Fast (age 4) of Tucson, Arizona, and Julianna Odette Dixon (age 7) of Cochise Arizona.
Memorial services will be held on:
Paternal side: Saturday Jan. 18, 2025, at 2972 N Nino Place, Cochise, Arizona. Friends and family will be received between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m.
Maternal side: Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at Randolph Funeral Home in Valley Bend, West Virginia between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
