Dorothea E. "Dot" Freed Williamson, 94, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life, early Wednesday morning, Feb. 12, 2025, at her home with her loving family at her side and under the care of West Virginia Caring Hospice.
She was born on Friday, Sept. 12, 1930, at Macfarlan, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Albert Cloyd Freed and Manilla Bay Mathiss Freed.
On April 7, 1950, at Grafton, West Virginia, she was married to Edward Michael Williamson, who preceded her in death May 26, 2012. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, Stephen Eric Williamson and wife, Bonnie, of Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia; one daughter, Sharon Lynn "Sherry" Reed and husband, Murray, of Elkins; two grandchildren, Andrea Eye and husband, Nathan, and Patrick Terrano and wife, Sara; two step-grandchildren, Andrew Reed and wife, Kimberly, and Lauren Walls and husband, Ray; nine great-grandchildren, Dakota, Riley, Christopher and Gabriella Terrano, Ava, Samuel and Finnley Reed, and Colton and Morgan Walls; and her cat, Stormy.
Preceding her in death are four brothers, Tracy, Tony, Ivan and Shirley Freed; and one sister, Delphia Poole.
She was a graduate of Morgantown High School with the class of 1948. She had worked at the Davis Memorial Hospital as an operating room tech before becoming a homemaker to take care of her family. She was a member of the Goff Street Church of Christ, since 1961. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading Amish novels and loved gardening in her vegetable and flower gardens.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. The Minister Albert Brown will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
